HUNTER SF6 - 251250
Description
Gas detection and gas measuring device for professional SF6 leak detection
Sulphur hexafluoride, or SF6 for short, has been used for decades as an insulating and extinguishing gas in medium and high-voltage switchgear. Technically, SF6 has a number of advantages, but at the same time it is one of the most climate-impacting greenhouse gases known, which also remains in the atmosphere for a long time.
The HUNTER SF6 allows leaks to be reliably detected and assessed directly on site. This creates a robust basis for compliant testing and maintenance processes in accordance with specified guidelines and standards.
Features
The HUNTER SF6 combines precise sensor technology with our HUNTER device platform:
- integrated pump for active gas extraction
- flexible probes for different system types and measuring points
- large, clear display
- long operating time for all-day inspections
- digital connection via Esders Connect
Challenges
Difficult localisation of SF6 leaks in the field
The handling of sulphur hexafluoride is increasingly becoming the focus of legislation, regulatory authorities and the public:
- stricter requirements due to the F-Gas Regulation (EU) 2024/573
- restrictions on the use of new switchgear depending on the voltage level
- obligations regarding leak testing, documentation and staff qualification
- increasing importance of SF6 recovery and reuse in the future
For operators and service companies, this means that leaks must be detected early, emissions minimised and measures properly documented.
Our device solution is specifically developed for:
- network operators and energy suppliers
- service and maintenance companies
- operators of medium and high-voltage switchgear
- specialist personnel responsible for environmental, occupational and plant safety
The HUNTER SF6 as a solution
Targeted leak detection with a system
Advantages at a glance
- Sensitive measurement of even the smallest SF6 leaks to reduce emissions
- Precise leak detection at a safe distance from live components
- Structured recording of measured values as a basis for LDAR concepts
- Preparation for stricter regulations, increasing documentation requirements and the growing focus on recycling and reuse
- Digital documentation via the Esders Connect app
