Safe installation of heat pumps, underfloor heating systems and cooling systems

Before heat pump pipes are put into operation or cooling systems are filled, a leak test must always be carried out. This is where the importance of reliable technology becomes clear. Our measuring devices help to reliably detect leaks, comply with standards and document test results directly in digital form. This applies to new buildings, retrofits and recurring inspections. Our sophisticated system not only saves time, but also avoids unnecessary rework.

Pressure and leak test of underfloor heating system

Table of Contents The pressure in underfloor heating is essential to ensure that this type of climate control system works properly, is safe and has a long service life. Before activating an installation, it is essential to carry out a pressure or leak test to confirm that there are no leaks or losses in the system. This test is not only a technical requirement, but is also stipulated by special regulations. In this article, we explain the correct pressure for

Frequently Asked Questions

There is no such thing as an unnecessary question; there are only too few answers. That is why we are continuously working on listing important questions and answers for test procedures in the field of heating systems and cooling technology here.

A leak test is always mandatory before initial commissioning, e.g. after new pipes have been laid. The system must also be retested for leaks after modifications, repairs or the replacement of components. If abnormalities such as pressure drops or signs of leakage occur during operation, an immediate test is also required. The results should always be documented in accordance with standards.

Yes, especially when fluorinated refrigerants are used – in this case, the F-Gas Regulation and DIN EN 378 apply.

There is no fixed statutory maintenance interval for the heating circuit system of an underfloor heating system.
However, according to the recommendation of the Central Association for Sanitary, Heating and Air Conditioning (ZVSHK), an initial inspection should be carried out approximately ten years after initial commissioning. After that, a two-year inspection interval has proven effective in practice.

In Germany, pressure testing for underfloor heating systems is subject to various regulations, such as the Ordinance on Thermal Installations in Buildings, the Technical Building Regulations (DIBt) and the technical standards DIN EN 378-4. These deal with the installation, testing and commissioning of these underfloor heating systems.

Depending on the system and specifications – typically 3–4 bar, but always in accordance with manufacturer and standard specifications.
