Frequently Asked Questions
Questions about standards, test procedures and equipment use often arise in everyday work. We have compiled the most important ones relating to the testing of drinking water pipes here.
What standards apply to pressure tests on drinking water pipes?
Water and treated drinking water are our most important global resources. That is why ensuring their availability and quality is one of the most important tasks – starting with testing the pipes. For indoor installations, the ZVSHK’s information sheet on leak testing drinking water installations with compressed air, which is based on EN806-4, applies.
Who is permitted to work on drinking water installations?
Only those who are approved may carry out work – this is stipulated by law.
Work on drinking water installations may only be carried out by specialist companies that are listed in a water supplier’s directory of installers. This so-called approval is mandatory – to protect water quality and system safety. For owners and users, this means that work carried out by non-professionals or unregistered companies is not permitted.
What to do if leaks are detected?
If a leak is detected during the test, the pipe must not be put into operation. The affected area must be repaired professionally. Only after successful repair and a new, documented test may the system be released for use again. Complete traceability is mandatory – also from a legal perspective.
How do TONIs record pressure test results?
Thanks to the free connection to Esders Connect, specialist companies have access to the protocols of synchronised tests at any time. These are stored on our servers in accordance with the GDPR, so that a protocol can be restored even if it is lost.
An automatic email notification also simplifies the process on the construction site and can be easily and conveniently set up in the app.
