PRESS RELEASE – €15,000 for sustainable projects: Esders GmbH launches Future Award

The Esders GmbH, headquartered in Haselünne, is donating a future award endowed with €15,000 to mark the company’s 30th anniversary. Voluntary initiatives from Germany and abroad can apply with the following goals: Conservation of finite resources, promotion of renewable energies or preservation of biodiversity and natural habitats. With this award, the measurement technology specialist for gas and water supply would like to recognise honorary commitment and sensitise for ecological challenges in the present and future. The closing date for entries is 15 October.

“As a company, we not only bear responsibility towards customers, employees, their families and our location, but also for ensuring that future generations have a future worth living,” says managing director Bernd Esders. That is why the 30th company anniversary is not only an occasion for him to celebrate, but also to promote voluntary environmental protection projects. We are looking for projects to save finite resources.

These include fossil fuels such as gas and oil or other scarce resources such as soil and drinking water. Non-commercial initiatives that serve the expansion of renewable energies or the conservation of biodiversity and natural habitats can also apply. “These include moorland conservation projects, near-natural silviculture and the creation of ecological niches such as hedgerows, flowering meadows and dry stone walls,” says Bernd Esders.

A jury from science, nature conservation and non-profit organisations will award the prize; closing date is 15 October. Afterwards, a jury decides on the winners. For the jury, Esders could win personalities from science, nature protection and non-profit organizations. Among others, Dr Michael Rode is a professor who teaches at the Institute for Environmental Planning at Leibniz University in Hanover and is deputy chairman of the Lower Saxony Regional Association of the Federation for the Environment and Nature Conservation Germany (BUND). “Climate protections, as well as the preservation of habitats and biodiversity, are central goals of BUND and central contents of my university work, which is why I like to be part of the jury”, says Prof Dr Michael Rode.

As a manufacturer of leak detection, measurement and testing technology, Esders GmbH has been making a contribution to the safety and conservation of gas and water resources for 30 years. In addition, the family business assumes responsibility for all areas over which it has a direct influence in order to reduce its ecological footprint. This includes energy supply from resource-conserving and regenerative sources. The planting of the company headquarters, which should not only be a company site but also a natural habitat for bees, insects and small animals, as well as the compensation of the fuel consumption of the company fleet.
